Dr Ashley Stewart-Tufescu, PhD, RSW
Ashley is Assistant Professor and scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba and the Faculty of Social Work, University of Manitoba. Her research programme aims to prevent child maltreatment by implementing evidence-based interventions to promote healthy child development, enhance family relationships and support community wellbeing. Trained in social work and public health, her research spans 19 countries throughout Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, North America, and South East Asia. She is a strong advocate for children’s rights to participation and protection and has published widely on the impact of punitive violence and adverse childhood experiences.
